Putting green installation is the answer to improving your golf game.
Are you devoted to your golf game? If so, why not build a backyard putting green? It may sound silly to some people, but to those diehard fans of the game, it makes perfect sense.
• Location: Decide on the area of your yard where you will build your practice green. Pick an area that will stay free of other traffic if possible. Building it in an area where pets and children play is not recommended.
• Remove debris: Clear the area of rocks, roots and other yard debris. Add a layer of top soil. Make sure the new soil is clear of rocks and debris.
• Decide on the turf: Decide what type of turf you will use. For this you should contact a turf expert. Your geographical location will play a big part as to what turf will work best for you.
• Add irrigation: You should add an irrigation system to help maintain the health of the turf. Make sure there is proper drainage to prevent water build-up.

Sod grass installation requires properly preparing the soil to build a solid foundation for growth.
If you’re thinking about sodding your lawn this season, take the time to prepare the soil. Many homeowners make the mistake of not properly preparing the soil before laying the sod. By taking the time to build a good foundation for your sod, you are increasing the likelihood of growing a healthy and lush lawn.
Grass gets its air, water and nutrients to grow healthy from the soil that it is growing in. If the soil isn’t nutrient rich the roots will not thrive. The key to a healthy sod is the root system. The deeper the root grows the healthier the blades will be. Your healthy top soil should go 6” deep in order to encourage deep root growth.
To prepare the soil, add topsoil that is recommended for the area that you live in. Add in humus (organic matter). Test your soil pH level. If it is below 6 you will need to add lime. If the Alkaline are higher than 7.5 you will need to add sulfur or gypsum. Once your pH level is right apply a ‘starter fertilizer’ and work it into the sod. Final grade the area and you are ready to lay your sod.

Lawncare done correctly will bring the reward of a beautiful, lush lawn.
Developing proper habits for caring for your lawn are necessary to maintain its beauty and health. If you are not doing it correctly, you risk damaging your lawn and face the possibility of having to replace the damaged areas.
To begin your lawn care regiment in the spring you should first apply a pre-emergent herbicide to help keep weeds to a minimum. Weeds can spread quickly and overtake your lawn.
Proper fertilization will help reduce disease, kill weeds and bugs that damage cause damage to your lawn. Follow the recommendations of the manufacturer as to the frequency. You should always use a rotary spreader to make sure you are spreading the fertilizer evenly.
When you are using products on your lawn, make sure that you are following the manufacturer’s directions and keep them stored in a safe place away from pets and small children.
Mow your lawn regularly with a sharp blade. It is alright to leave the grass clippings on the lawn to add needed nutrients back into the soil. However, if the clippings are too long, they should be raked up to prevent damage to the lawn.

Lawn service – Keep a regular maintenance schedule to keep your lawn healthy.
One of the keys to maintaining a beautiful lawn is to keep your maintenance on a regular schedule. Don’t wait until the grass is too long to mow, or the weeds have completely taken over your flower beds. Stick to your schedule and the results will be well worth your efforts.
Mowing should be done on a regular basis to prevent the grass from getting too long. When the grass is long the clippings will need to be raked up making more work for you. If you mow regularly, you should leave the clippings to help feed the lawn.
Fertilizing should be done following the recommendations of the manufacturer. Maintaining a regular schedule will help keep the lawn healthy and lush.
The best way to keep your watering on a schedule is to set an automatic watering system. The best time to water is in the very early morning hours before the sun rises.
Pulling weeds regularly will prevent them from taking over your flower beds. Don’t wait until the job gets too big. Pulling one or two weeds in a bed at a time is far better than pulling dozens.
Stick to your lawn maintenance schedule and you will have a healthy, attractive lawn and garden. Visit

Lawn maintenance performed properly will leave you with a healthy, beautiful lawn.
As summertime is quickly approaching, yard maintenance will be taking center stage. To help keep your lawn lush and healthy here are three tips to follow.
1. Mowing: As soon as the lawn turns green in the spring you can mow. Make sure that the blade is sharp. A dull blade will damage the grass blades. Set the mower to 1”. Leave the clippings to add nitrogen into the soil. If the grass is too long and creates clumps, remove the excessive clippings.
2. Irrigation: You should always water in the early morning hours. It is necessary for the sun to help dry the puddled water to prevent fungus from growing. A long infrequent soaking is better than frequent short watering. If possible set your irrigation system on an automatic timer to prevent missing a watering.
3. Fertilization: You should have your soil tested to determine what the soil needs are. Fertilization is necessary to keep the lawn healthy. Make sure that you are following the manufacturer’s directions. A spreader is necessary to be sure that the fertilizer is spread evenly.

Grass Sod Could Be the Perfect Upgrade for Your Lawn

Everyone dreams of having a backyard oasis to spend long summer days with your family and friends. Unfortunately, the continuing struggle with damaged grass caused by disease, insects and lawnmower abuse can sometimes discourage you from achieving that dream.
You may be among the millions of Americans who have thrown their hands up in the air in defeat and have accepted the label of ‘ugliest lawn in the neighborhood’. This spring, put those hands down and consider installing grass sod. Within just a couple of weeks after installation you will be able to join your friends and family in those backyard activities instead of worrying about fixing your unsightly lawn problems.
So don’t let another summer go by shamefully carrying that label. Within a matter of weeks your yard can become the envy of the neighborhood and one that you will be proud of. If you are considering sod be sure to check out the Empire brand. This sod is very hardy and tough and can stand up to heavy traffic.

Sod for lawn is the perfect answer for creating that backyard utopia you have always dreamed of.

Spring is here and you are running out of time to get your lawn ready for the upcoming season. If you’ve been debating on which is best, seeding or sodding, here are three reasons to choose sod over seeding.
- Sod can be installed any time of year: Depending on the type of sod, you can install sod any time during the year. Seeds need sunlight and the right temperature and season to germinate.
- Sod gives you instant results: Sod gives you an immediate lawn. While some time is needed to be fully established it will give the appearance of a lush lawn within a couple of weeks. Seeding takes a longer period to establish and may take several seasons to become a lush and hardy lawn.
- Sod stands up better to heavy traffic: While it is recommended that you try to stay off of a newly sodded lawn, it will not take long to be able to handle traffic. Seeds require more time to become established and the newly planted area should be traffic free for several weeks.
