Modern Turf offers an industry first with a 100% Lifetime Guarantee on a new lawn.
Here’s how it works:
The idea is to set the client up with the best possible growing conditions with the best possible grass to meet their needs and expectations. The first step is an onsite consultation with the client to gather important information. During this consultation we take into account the clients needs and expectations, soil type, water source, shade, drainage, history of the site, traffic (i.e., kids or dogs) and any other unique factors that will only become apparent with an onsite visit. During the visit the Modern Turf Professional will take soil samples for fertility testing. Based on the soil test results and the on site assessment Modern Turf will make a recommendation of the best possible variety of grass for each situation.
An irrigation assay will be taken as well with a visit from a Modern Turf Qualified Irrigation Inspector. This person will adjust all heads to spray the area of intent and not sidewalks, driveways etc. They will verify that all zones are in good working condition and replace any heads that are damaged, repair leaks and inspect the system to be sure all areas receive adequate irrigation for successful sodding. Once this process is complete the irrigation system will be certified as “sod ready”. This is not a free service and will cost a minimum of $85. This service will be repeated annually to insure proper irrigation coverage.
A successful lawn begins with a proper soil test to determine the fertility of the site to be sodded. Based on the results of the soil test, we make necessary amendments to the soil to produce optimum growing conditions for the variety of grass to be planted. It should be noted that while we do sometimes add soil and organic material from time to time we are not interested in massive importation of additional materials to ad to your yard (and your cost). All grasses are capable of growing on all soil types. The most likely addition to a given site would be adding an organic mixture to a sandy location to increase moisture retention and fertility, thus reducing the need for excessive irrigation and fertility associated with sandy yards.
For existing lawns being replaced preparation will include reducing what’s left of the existing lawn to a good sodable surface, removing tree roots, filling low areas and removal of excess material. For new lawns preparation will require more grading and raking to get everything smooth and sod ready. Just prior to sodding soil amendments which may include, organic material, lime, fertilizer and wetting agents will take place and be lightly incorporated into the soil surface. Like painting, preparation is very important to the ultimate success of a lawn.
Installation is fairly straight forward. The day the sod is laid a crew will show up with the sod and put it out in a neat and orderly fashion. The irrigation will run until the new sod is very wet and the Modern Turf Installation Professional will set up the irrigation system for sod. Since the system will already have been certified, there will be no surprises when the irrigation system is run to water the sod.
