Home lawns – 3 things to consider before you purchase…

Sodding your lawn is a big decision and one that you should take the time to make sure you get right. There is not only a financial investment, but also time and labor. You should be certain that the sod you choose will be able to thrive in your particular environment. There are many factors to consider before purchasing the sod that is best for your lawn.

Here are three things you should consider:

1.    Geographical location:
Not all sods will grow in certain geographical locations. Some prefer tropical climate and will thrive in the South but would struggle in the North. While others thrive in the North, but not in the South.

2.    Natural elements: If you live in an area that is prone to harsh elements such as drought, you will need to find a sod that is drought resistant. There are sods that thrive in tropical climate, but don’t do well in colder climates. Exposure to particular elements can sometimes make it impossible to have a thriving lawn.

3.    Ability to maintain properly:
If you don’t have the time to put into properly maintaining a lawn, then you will need to find a sod that doesn’t require much maintenance.
