Proper lawncare will help beat your battle with weeds.

The best way to control weeds is to provide a healthy growing environment for your lawn and garden. Weeds flourish in not so healthy environments, so to discourage their growth by providing the best environment possible for your grass.

To provide ultimate growing conditions for your lawn follow these simple guidelines.

• Lawn mowing: Regular lawn care should include frequent mowing. Don’t cut the blades too close to the ground and you’ll avoid scalping the lawn.
• Fertilizing: Fertilizing should be done at least four times a year if possible. Once in March or April, again in May or June, then once during the summer months and again before the first frost.
• Watering: Give your lawn a good soaking once or twice a week with at least 1” of water. Weeds prefer the more frequent light watering.
• Weed Kill: Consult with an expert to determine which type of weed killer will work best to help you kill the existing weeds in your lawn and garden.

By properly maintaining your lawn and garden all year long you should be able to win the battle over your weeds. For more information about lawncare and how to control weeds, visit the experts at Modern Turf.
