Southern Pines, NC Course Unveils New Greens

Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club Now Home to MiniVerde UltraDwarf Greens

Cleaner putts and a firmer underfoot feel are in store for golfers at the Pinehurst area’s Mid Pines course now that Modern Turf’s MiniVerde Ultradwarf bermudagrass has been installed. Director of Golf, Graham Gilmore was excited to unveil the new greens and welcome golfers onto this classic course designed by Donald Ross.

As on the other top-notch courses where Modern Turf has recently installed MiniVerde Ultradwarf, golfers are happy with how the turf looks and plays; superintendents are happy with how easy the new greens are to keep. Known for its high shoot density and fine leaf blades, it’s no wonder MiniVerde Ultradwarf draws praise not only from golfers and course superintendents – it’s also been a favorite in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) trials for several years.

At Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club, players and guests can enjoy the beauty of stunning views in their surroundings, sleep in one of the 59 rooms at the Victorian inn, exercise in the fitness center, lounge by the pool, play tennis, and of course enjoy a delicious meal at the on-site location or cocktails in the lounge.

Located just four miles from Pinehurst, 60 miles southwest of Raleigh, and 75 miles east of Charlotte, Mid Pines is easily accessible from anywhere in North Carolina. The course recently hosted the 2013 US Kids’ Boys’ Championship.

The new MiniVerde Ultradwarf greens are an exceptional addition to the natural contours of the course, and it’s expected that as more golf course superintendents come to see and play the course, they’ll have questions about switching out their old bentgrass greens as well.
