Sports Grass Types
Celebration® Bermudagrass
Celebration, a vibrant blue-green bermudagrass, has consistently outperformed other varieties in various university research studies. It excels in wear tolerance, recovery, drought resistance, and shade tolerance, making it a top choice for professional and college sports fields, golf courses, and residential lawns nationwide. Celebration stands out with its deep, robust roots, rhizomes, and stolons, making it exceptionally resilient. In short, this grass is virtually indestructible.
Stadium Zoysia
Stadium Zoysia showcases a fine to medium leaf texture combined with a rich green color. It boasts impressive shade and drought resistance, as well as exceptional salt tolerance. This grass features an extensive network of stolons, rhizomes, and roots, characterized by short stolon and internode lengths. It spreads quickly and possesses a density that suits high impact sports and facilitates golf course divot recovery. In simulated wear tolerance trials conducted at the University of Tennessee, Stadium Zoysia exhibited wear tolerance comparable to that of Tifway 419.
Celebration Hybrid™ Bermudagrass
Celebration Hybrid, an enhanced variety developed by Mississippi State University, is derived from crosses with the parent grass, Celebration Bermudagrass. This hybrid boasts superior drought tolerance, as evidenced in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) bermudagrass trials. It also offers a tolerance, fewer seed heads, and reduced thatch compared to its predecessor. Additionally, it exhibits greater cold tolerance, thriving well into the transition zone, which makes it an excellent choice for golf courses.range of improved characteristics, including a finer texture, increased shade
TIFway 419 Bermudagrass
For decades, Tifway 419 has been the go-to choice for golf course tees, fairways, and roughs in the southern United States. This grass variety is known for its vigorous growth, dense and low habit, and quick recovery from wear and tear.
In addition to golf courses, Tifway 419 is also commonly used on sports fields and in various landscape settings. While it may not be the ideal option for residential lawns, it excels as the “soccer yard” of the neighborhood, withstanding heavy use. However, it’s important to note that Tifway 419 requires high maintenance, including frequent mowing, watering, fertilizing, and other cultural practices, to maintain its quality turf appearance.
Bimini Bermuda
BIMINI is globally recognized for its resilience and remarkable ability to withstand both heat and cold. This fine-bladed grass features a robust growth rate, deep roots, and dense rhizomes. Its exceptional shear strength and capability to endure heavy foot traffic make it a favored choice for golf courses around the world.
